Road Trip
Crazy busy as usual..
I'll be leaving town tomorrow for Wisconsin with my carload of dogs. I have 3 going to direct placements and the other 15 will be going to two different humane societies. Thank goodness for my contacts, these guys will have a chance at life...
Here they would have been put to sleep:( The direct placements are my favorites, and truly I use to only do these types of adoptions before I moved south.
But with the amount of dogs I am taking in, it is almost impossible to do home visits, etc for the numbers.
These trips are hard on all of us, 10 hours in the car with several stops at rest areas.
But it is necessary and will take a week or two off to recoup when I get back home..
Here are some pics of the pups that have passed thru our house in the past few months..
I'll be gone for a week, but when I get back I'll respond to you all!!!
Thanks for linking me to your blogs and for reading mine:)

Counting My Blessings...

I've just come in from taking a break..
As I sat on the porch, I closed my eyes..
The warmth of the sun, the smell of grass being cut and the happy barks of the pets that are here, made me realize, life at this very moment is good:)
My days are crazy, every moment is taken..
Trying to focus the mind on the good and not the bad, is always a challenge...
I have been blessed with animal lovers who believe in my vision, you are the key reason I will succeed!!
No one person can do it all.. But if we all do a little, it makes a BIG difference.
I believe in Synchronicity, that things happen for a reason.. and they are happening!!
This week I have had some very important meant to be happenings that I'm very excited to share with you..
The Humane Society of The United States, sent me a 15 pound package with everything I need to start my own shelter.
I had been contacted by a lovely woman named Jude who is willing to be my grant writer to help me obtain the funds needed to create a spay & neuter program and build my shelter. I also received an e-mail from a gal named Melissa with a lead to a very nice grant opportunity, so every little bit of information and support helps. Keep them coming!!!
Please link me to your blogs so we can spread the message to animal lovers everywhere...
These are some of the pictures snapped of the sweet faces that have made it here..

I hate to include the sad pics but we can't forget those who are waiting to get to places that will love them...
I am full to capacity, with 18 dogs here and can't take any more, until after my trip to Wisconsin next week.
These guys are at animal control waiting for someone to take them..

Please pray for them and that together we can end this needless waste of life.
Blessings and Love to you all,
Bernie

Finding Light in the Darkest of Places...
It never ceases to amaze me the light that can be found in the darkest of places...
I had the great pleasure of meeting a young lady named Darby. She is 4 and just a joy to behold. I was at animal control checking on the pups that I was vetting and planning on transporting when I met her.
Her mother and her had rescued a young puppy she named Potato head. We'll call him Tater for short. He was dumped on the side of a Highway. They cared for him till I could get him. He is doing well and will find a wonderful home!! Darby had a light that shines and you'll see it in her picture.. To be so young & care so much...

Yesterday was a transport day.. These were some of the little ones that found placement. It's always makes my day when I can move the animals out of animal control:)
I'm pooped but will let the pictures speak for themselves..
They had a day in the sun and hopefully will find a lifetime of love..

On the flip side I'm trying to figure out how to get this momma kitty out of animal control...
I really need more quarantine area.. There is so much URI in the cat room at the shelter that if she isn't moved soon, she'll probably loose all her kittens and be sick herself. My husband is very supportive, but I'm pushing my limits as we have 18 dogs here now till I transport next week and 11 cats. Everyone is healthy and to bring Momma kitty in, I could jeopardize the others.. We have never been this full and I don't even have another cage that I could put her in if I could keep her in a separate room.. I need to network more here to get foster homes... Anyway, I'm just talking out loud.. Off to sleep... Zzzzzzz

My First Entry

This is my first official post to this blog!!
I want to Thank my friend Claudine for building this for me!! It is beautiful:)
This blog will be dedicated to writing about: Animals, Art, Love and Life

My days since returning from Artfest have been full..
Never a dull moment or a moment to just sit and be still...
In the upcoming days, I'm going to take some time and sit by the creek in front of my house, even if for a few moments to hear the birds and just reflect.
I'm hoping to take a truck full of puppies up to Wisconsin in a week or two as we are full to the brim with dogs.
I have 16 here at the moment.
Every day there are more puppies down at animal control and if we don't get them out, they are put to sleep. The hard part is after we take them from the animal control facilities, we then have to vaccinate, worm, do what ever medical things have to be done, spay/neuter and get health certificates for each one so that we can transport over state lines.
The shelters down here are very poor and not enough responsible pet owners to adopt them, so they must be shipped to more urban areas. I'm trying to find grants to apply for so that we can establish some spay and neuter programs in this area, to help fix this problem.
My plans for my own shelter are evolving each week. We now have an official tax number!!!
We are just waiting on our paperwork for our non for profit status.
As soon as I can get caught up and organized I will put an official call for art, for our art auction to help raise money to build the shelter. Artists building a shelter!! Together we can make a difference:)
The cute little dog in these pics are Miss Mini. She just came in and she is just a dollie!!! Approximately 1-2 years of age, she is a Dachshund/Terrier mix. Cute, sassy and definitely tries to be the boss!!
She was scheduled to be put to sleep due to space. Her and many other dogs & cats will be featured here, so if you are looking for a dog to add to your life, please do consider a rescued dog..
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog!!
In Blessings and Light...
