Home again & New Faces....

Whew!!!! Busy, busy, busy..
Got home last Saturday, by Monday was half full & by Wednesday we're full again...
The good news is I got a call on Monday that all our dogs were adopted!!!
Not to mention I was able to deliver Flynn & Cookie to their new forever homes in Wisconsin.
I've also been juggling some health problems of my own, not to mention taking a nasty spill the other day..
No time to whine, I've got dogs to feed:)

Spring has sprung, the grass is growing, flowers blooming and the pounds are full:(
I'm currently bottle feeding 6, now 6 day old pups, we got them on Monday..
This in itself is so time consuming, I'm so tired:) Every 2 hours feedings, cleanings and keeping a watch on their body temps.
Soooo cute though!!!

This is "Diva" and that she is!! I love her eyes they are sooo cool!!
A Border Collie, female, approximately 1-2 years of age. Good with other dogs, super sweet, but very busy!!!

"YoYo" I'm guessing is a Beagle/Basset Hound mix. I guess that would make him a Bagle:) He is just darling!!
Little, compact version of a Basset Hound.
About 15-18 pounds. Approximately 1-2 years of age, male & super shy.. Him & his brother didn't have the best life.
They are very sweet and all it will take is some time and love to bring him around to trust..

"Gumbo" is a male, Beagle. A bit more outgoing than YoYo. Approximately 2-3 years of age.
They both are fine with other dogs.

Stay tuned more dogs to post and auction news..

Leaving For Chicago..

The van is finally configured & loaded with all the crates ready to bring all the pups to the Anti Cruelty Society in Chicago tomorrow...
Health certificates all done, tons of running around when we do these transports, but all my little ones and some BIG ones will have a chance at new and great lives:)
After I unload I have another 2 hour drive to Wisconsin to do 2 private adoptions and then to the Humane Society in Wisconsin the following morning to get some much needed food and medical supplies.
I also get to see some of my Wisconsin friends, some of you may be familar with Kim Nugent, great artist and my buddy who has one of my rescued dogs. So I get to sleep and snuggle one of my little buddies even when not home!!
If you have my cell number give me a call I'll be bored driving:)
Leaving in about 4 hours so I need to take my tired self to bed..

I'll be back Friday nite or Saturday & I'll continue loading auction items so PLEASE keep checkin back, lots of fabulous stuff,
I have at least 30+ pieces to load.

Talk to you soon...

Art Auction is LIVE!!!I

Art by: Beryl Taylor

I'm in Chicago for my brother's wedding..
Just came in from it and was just checking on my e-mail and found out that part of the auction went live:( EEEKK!!
I guess when I was working on everything and loading it, I never went back to change dates on the first block of art...
Still having growing pains with e-bay, but eventually I'll get it.
I'm so sorry that it didn't all go live together, especially to those artist that asked if I could wait till after Artfest.
The other dates still stand and there will be more art, fat books and some of my own personal things offered for auction.
We have a ton of vet bills to catch up on and are in dire need of vaccine now..

Art by: Lynne Perrella

I will ask, if you would please pass the word on to all your art and animal loving friends, about the current partial listing being auctioned now,I would truly appreciate it
There is so much great art work and some very unique one of a kind pieces!!!

Again, I'm sorry but I guess this is just another sign that I need to slow down the pace a bit..
I'm off to bed, have to get up early and drive back to Tennessee tomorrow:)

Auction News..

Art by: Tara Ross

I'm finally almost finished listing all the auction items!!!
I only have the fat books left to photograph and list on e-bay, all the picturetaking, uploading, cleaning, resizing and writing it all up, has just taken a ton of time. It is well worth it, the auction looks GREAT!!!
I'm thrilled beyond words at the beautiful things sent.
So Thank YOU all from the bottom of my heart, you'll be floored by the artwork being offered.
The dates for the auction are: April 6-15th.
I would post them sooner but a bunch of people who are going to Artfest have asked if I could delay it..

I'm slowly starting to get caught up on things..
It will be such a load off my shoulders when I do.
I feel so guilty most times trying to catch up, but can't help that things are just the way they are, because I can't stop my heart, even when my head tells me I'm doing too much. The care of the animals consumes my time and I'm lucky if there is time for me to sit and eat, I'm usually eating while running around, making my phone calls from the car, etc...
I really hate disappointing people by not being caught up on things, e-mails, paperwork, etc..
It is never my intention to disappoint anyone, ever..
If I haven't responded to an e-mail, please send it again!!!
We've grown so big in such a short time, the growing pains have been pretty substancial.
I am working on finding balance though..
Seems we are always learning about ourselves and life no matter how old we are:)

Lately, money has been so terribly tight for the rescue, I have faith and things always have a way of working out:)
The surgeries, the cost of vaccine, food, etc have really stretched us to the breaking point.
The financial aspect of doing rescue will ultimately make me slow down.
The cost of saving lives and creating a no kill vision is staggering.
But hope guides me for the future, even though we endure hardship at times, the dream of a better tomorrow is worth all the hard work, no matter what the price.
I'll be on the road traveling pretty much every month this year to make ends meet..

The art posted here are some of the pieces that will be offered by the talented animal loving artists.
I will soon have a yahoo groups, so that my communications will be better. My sweet friends who are trying to help me out will be my moderators and help keep me organized.
I value each and every one of you and hope that is realized, even at times when I'm so out of touch.
It's only because I'm caring for the animals and they always have to come first..

I really miss doing my art for myself and have started a new blog so not to clog this one with my art talk.
If you're interested it's: http://www.bernieberlin.blogspot.com
I'm off to bed, have to be in Chicago tomorrow to bring some dogs and go to my brother's wedding on Saturday, then drive back on Sunday to prepare for a big transport of 35-40 dogs on next Thursday.
Nitey nite..

Beautiful Girls..

I took these two girls in today, how could I not???!!
They are so incredibly sweet and loving...
Well behaved and just a joy to be around.
"Peaches" is a Golden/Aussie mix my best guess. Only 25 pound. Female, approximately 2-3 years of age.
LOVES to be with you!!! Great with other dogs.

"Bella" is a Great Pyrenees, possibly a mix. She is 56 pounds, female and approximately 1-2 years of age.
Super sweet and well behaved, is good with other dogs, knows how to sit.

Harvey is quite smitten with Bella as you can see..

I blame my friend Allison for me getting hooked on Great Pyrenees.. (((Giggles)))
Never in my life have I seen so many, I never saw as many up north in rescue.
Till tomorrow..

Back home for the moment..

I'm back home and things are as they always seem to be..
Way too busy!!!
I will post more about my Boston trip in the next couple of days, but the task at hand is getting my auctions up, so I'll be working day and nite on that this week.
In the meanwhile here are some of the faces that are here and looking for their forever homes..
At the top with me is "Petee" a male 6 month old Chihuahua/Doxie/something mix.
A total sweetheart who loves to sleep in bed with you, right under your neck. This one is for you Tracy!!! ((hint-hint))

This is "Darla" a 12 week old female, Hound/mix, maybe Australian Shepherd. Super spunky she is a bundle of energy!!

Next we have "Mandy" a female Australian Shepherd, possibly a mix. Approximately 2-3 years of age. Shy at first, but comes out of her shell pretty quick. Loves to play & herd with others. Does not do well with cats.

"Cookie" & "Peepers" have been here awhile. They are best buddies and both are female about a year old. If you want to know what they are, I truly don't know, but only can guess... The best I can say is that they are the most beautiful mutts I have seen yet:) The true designer dog not to be replicated!!

Our sweet little "Flynn" is a male Maltepoo about 1-2 years of age. A face cleaner, loving and does great with other dogs.

We have 11 of these little guys. Most are Lab/mixes and three are Boxer/mixes. A bundle of puppy energy, always under foot and loving attention.

Just a cute pic of the little dogs out and about. We've been having some beautiful weather of which I'm loving:)
We've got a transport going out in just a week or two and I have to leave for Chicago on Friday for my brothers wedding.
I"m pooped, but just wanted get these pictures out, I have some prospective adopters who have been patiently waiting for pictures, so here they are!!
Hang in there, I'm working on the auction, it will be up soon I promise!!
Blessing and Light to you all!!!!

Art Auction: Currently going on..

I just wanted to let you know that there is a fabulous art auction going on right now with only a few days left to bid..

My sweet friend Maija has listed a collaborative book that was just featured in Somerset Studio magazine recently for their 10 year anniversary.

The book was hosted by Theresa Martin and all the art is just breath taking..

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the artists that participated!!

Three books are listed, so if you want some great art here are the links:

Book 1 - see the auction here!

Book 2 - see the auction here!

Book 3 see the auction here!

I'm so happy that I signed up for Mission Fish, it makes it so easy for those who want to donate and do auctions for "A Place To Bark" not to mention very safe too for all involved. All auctions that mention "A Place to Bark" should have the Mission Fish Logo.
Where I've been and Auction News
Sorry I've been missing..
Too many animals, so little time.
Not to mention work and life in between.
The last transport went very well, all the dogs were adopted and I even got a sweet e-mail from one of the children of a family, who adopted one of the puppies.
It's those moments when you know that animal is going to have a lifetime of love that keeps me going..

I've been on the road, caring for sick family members and currently I'm back in Boston Teaching.
I'll be back home this weekend.
Many have been asking about the auction and as soon as I get back I will try to get that wrapped up.
Sorry for the delay I know so many of you are waiting to see all the great art and help the animals.
I'm grateful for the help and thankful everyday for such good friends.
My good friends gave me a talking to and I am going to try to accept their help with trying to keep me organized.
I try to do it all myself, but am realizing that I can't so..
Thank you my sweet friends for caring:)
