As Summer Turns to Fall...

Yesterday was the first day of fall and it had my mind reflecting on the months past and how precious each and every moment of daily living is..
Truly we take so much for granted on a daily basis, that it isn't until something life changing happens that we take notice.
Grateful for the friendships made, new & old, the beautiful stories shared from fellow animal lovers and the support both financial and emotional. I couldn't have done so much without you..

We have so far this year we have taken in 426 dogs and cats...
More than last year and the year is not over.
Did I mention we took in 96 dogs/puppies in July/August. That was our biggest combined months ever.
I will be transporting 45 next week.

The past months I have been doing a juggling act with my life, record numbers of animals here, traveling and teaching in between transports, writing my new books at nite, creating new art and classes and running back and forth to the hospital has me truly pooped.

All in all, I have managed, but have made a firm decision to take the next few months off to play catch up with my life..
Yes.. I know I always try and never stick to it, but I will have to this time. Or at least really, really try my best..
The vet bills are maxed, so now I absolutely have to be realistic about what I can and cannot do financially.
I plan on having the art auction up the first weekend in November. I have some friends who have volunteered to help me photograph and load it.
They have threatened bodily harm if I refuse help..
So many of you have been so patiently waiting, for the rest of the auction to be posted and so it shall be right before the holidays. Once everything has been paid down and I have taken a few months off, we'll start again. I'm hoping that by next year we'll be able to start a program where people will be fostering the puppies taking some of the pressure off me.
I'll still oversee the transports, shots, worming, etc, to get them fully healthy prior to going to the humane societies.

Below is our sweet "Fancy" and her pups. I am always in awe of the life force of these animals. No matter their hardships, they are always so grateful when they get here. This sweet mom, had her pups the nite we got her here. She went right into her crate, laid down and let out the biggest sigh, as to say.. "I'm safe"

How blessed I am to hold life in the palm of my hands.. How blessed are you to have your pets in your life:)
Someday in the near future some lucky person will have this baby as their own..

I laughed myself silly the other day, when the puppies mauled me, when I was cleaning and they had all been swimming in their pools. Good thing I'm not a dirt- a- phobe!! Just call me Miss Mudball:)

Like I said, moments, that is all we have in this life and no matter how hard the day, try to take a moment, look around and find something that makes you smile.. Like these precious ones!! Are they laughing at me???!!! ((giggles))

P.S. My sweet friend in Hawaii I haven't forgotten you...
COMMENTS:
GREAT photos. You are truly an amazing human being and I greatly admire you. We take in one foster (houseguest) at a time and I can only dream of one day winning the lotto and being able to do what you do.

You are heaven sent to these sweet animals. They are so lucky to have you -- and we are so lucky to be able to share in your goodness through your blog.

You are living my dream! I cry every time I visit your blog. I wish I could do what you're doing for all of those sweet sweet animals.

I have infant twins and a 3 year old, so once they are older, I hope to establish an animal rescue/sanctuary.

God Bless you and the needy animals. Keep doing what you're doing. I will support you in any way I can. Much love!

Bernie, you are truly an inspiration to us all--mud or no mud! : )

xoxo
