Dog Days..

I've been busy as usual, trying to get the pups and dogs here ready for the transport next Tuesday to the Humane Society.
The day started out like most, good morning sounds of the dogs wanting to go out for their morning potty sessions and breakfast. Got everyone situated, fed, medicated, etc..
Loaded the truck, to go to the vet and start getting our health certificates done, when I see two stray dogs, in the middle of the street, nothing but corn fields for miles. As I pull over and get out, these poor babies were nothing but skin and bones, wagging their tails and running up to me, looking for food. Needless to say, two more passengers in my car going to the vet:) They are sweet their names are Maizy & Daisy.

Before we got to the vet we stopped at the pound to pick up yet another Weimaraner for rescue, her name is Zelda and she'll be on her way to Denver later this week. Isn't she sweet!!

Here's one of our new guys "Harvey" he is a beautiful Great Pyrenees. Approximately 1 year of age. Super loving and sweet but scared to death of pretty much everything. He's going to be here a bit for he's going to need to build his self confidence. Just the best studio dog, he never leaves my feet:)

This little pup is named is "Guido" he is approximately 6-8 weeks old, soooo cute, but has a terrible inguinal hernia that needs surgery as soon as possible.
These types of hernias can be life threatening because of the size of the hernia, so we'll have to keep a close eye on him this weekend. He'll be going in on Tuesday for surgery, so please keep him & Harriett in your thoughts and prayers..

Another cutie, this super sweet darling's name is "Cookie" and is a 2-3 year old female Pom.

This is "Jose" he is a male Sharpei/mix. Approximately 10-12 weeks old, he is just too funny!! Loves to be the life of the party!!

Then we have "Gomez" a male Peke/mix of some sort. Super busy and friendly, follows you everywhere!! Approximately 9 months to one year.

Also, "Juanita" a female beagle/mix approximately 1-2 years of age. Loves to follow her nose and you!!!
(((did I mention she loves to eat!!)))

A picture tells a thousand words and this one shows the great energy and love for the animals the techs and veterinarian have, I'm blessed to know and work with them all.
They take such good care of my animals and I have to say I probably see them more than my family and friends.

This post doesn't even feature the litters of puppies here..
So this just gives you an idea of how busy it has been around here lately.
Most will be leaving with me on Tuesday for Chicago & Wisconsin, so if you are considering a new pet, please check out my animals and adopt them at the Anti Cruelty Society in Chicago. That's where they will be next week.
Blessing & light to you all, I hope to be in contact soon!!!

hi! a retry here ... (don't know what i did... anyway!)
i found your blog through your book, which is fabulous! as an animal lover, i think what you are doing is just amazing. i've volunteered at a shelter and all my kitties are rescues! also, sending thoughts are prayers to your two poochies ... harriet and the puppy! take care!!

I'm so glad to have found your blog and learn about your rescue! I found you through the link Vickie Howell had on her blog and I've now added a link to your blog on mine! I am a huge dog lover and volunteer with a rescue out of TN also (Miss Linda's). I was curious to know where the dogs go for the most part from your place? I clicked on your petfinder link but only saw 3 dogs and they were listed as in WI?? The dogs you have here are absolutely gorgeous!

How very nice! So glad to have found your blog! Off to bookmark it now! :) The little Pom looks just like our little Foxy! :)

Dear Bernie;
I found your website and will add it to my list, so my pals can chekc you out. What wonderful work you do, you are amazing to give a voice to all those who can not speak for themselves. We travel 5 months in our 5th wheel into the southern US from Canada where I have worked with the SPCA when I am back in BC. We have two Dalamatians, one a surrendered (we are her 4th and final Home) 11 year old and 13 year old "girles" I find it so hard as we travel to see the neglect of so many dogs. We just rescued on with a 14 foot rope around him at the Colorado Rivers edge. I am always advocating that folks get a shelter dog, what could possibly be a more wonderful for all involved.
Blessings to you and may $ find its way into your life to help with your wonderful work.

Hi, Bernie. My friend Chris took your workshop on layering at Art Unraveled last year and brought me back a hand-out. Then I saw your "how to" in Cloth, Paper and Scissors and I use it religiously when I'm doing art.

Imagine my surprise to Google you to say thanks today and I cam up with your rescue page. Wow, you are doing wonderful work--and with such love. I'll put you in my blogroll and read here more often. I'm looking at your archives to see if you have reference to a site where I can see your art.

Anyhow, just wanted to say hi and thanks.

hi bern,
just thought i'd pop in and say "hi!"... its really amazing how young, beautiful and adoptable these animals are that you find at the shelter. those weimeraners are fabulous! the Great Pyr. is a beauty. How do people spend the money to get these purebreds, then throw them away!!!
ps. i think the 2 starving pups were clued in, that the bernie-love-bus was coming by that day, and ran out to meet it!
stay well...think of us folks who are shloshing through ice and snow kindly... i need to move south too!

Never have I seen so many beautiful faces on one blog page before. Bless you for all that you do.

hey Bernie remember we chatted about my hubby and I adopting a doggie. Will you keep an eye peeled for any Mastiff puppies. Can be a mix too, we just like big dogs. Thanks!

you are amazing, just amazing with a heart of gold and soul to match.
Through you and links I found a place here in my area (SF Bay Area)where we found a kitten I have my fingers crossed to adopt. We adopted all of the pets we've had through the years, one cat (sadly killed) was a foundling. We currently have a cat we adopted and now we feel she needs a sister/playmate.
I just wanted to tell you how much I admire what you do...OH and your art too - I have your book!
Sincerely,
Lisa
